This is a project supported by the ERDF for the financing of technological innovation projects, within the framework of the ERDF GALICIA 2007-2013 Operational Program, whose main objective is to optimize the raw materials control system using an innovative computer system. This system allows control of the traceability and quality of raw materials throughout the production process, from their arrival at the warehouse to their conversion into the final product, thus eliminating stock-outs, control of tasks, erroneous inventories, poor planning forecasts, etc.
Once the system has been implemented, the responsible personnel can know at all times the traceability of the raw material, the consumption made, the defects detected, the exact location of the piece and the manufacturing order or orders made with that fabric, among other important data. The system allows detecting failures in the production or design system, excessive consumption or other types of movements that cause a discrepancy between the theoretical and real stock, which in turn generates a total lack of confidence by the responsible personnel in the authenticity of the stock, which leads to taking inventories from time to time, causing a significant loss of time.
The system also includes a continuous evaluation of raw materials, which allows to choose one piece or another depending on its quality characteristics and, in the same way, to disable its use for not meeting the minimum quality requirements. Thanks to this evaluation, it is possible to know the supplier’s valuation of the materials for subsequent analysis and to decide on the future of purchases from suppliers.
Standardized procedures and the development of applications to manage process control are used to ensure that the project meets the requirements and objectives for which it was created, maintaining a reliable system and thus efficiently improving productivity.
